A sample chapter from the training DVD Maya Cloth 101
The Gnomon Workshop is an industry leader in professional training for artists in the entertainment and design industries. Founded by Alex Alvarez in 2000, it was launched as a means to share techniques with artists who could not attend the hands-on courses offered at The Gnomon School of Visual Effects in Hollywood, California. The company offers training by over 60 instructors on a diverse range of tools, software and media.
The video on the CD is Chapter 9: Object Cloth from The Gnomon Workshop's video Maya Cloth 101: Fundamentals - Cloth Techniques with Mark EA de Sousa.
Tutorial instructor Mark EA de Sousa is computer graphics supervisor for special projects: cloth and hair at Sony Pictures Imageworks. His screen credits include cloth lead on both Open Season and the Academy Award-winning Spider-Man 2.
The six-minute tutorial deals with Maya Cloth, a cloth modeller and simulator that aids artists in creating realistic and stylised animated cloth for characters and creatures, or other visual effects. The aim of the complete training DVD is to introduce you to the fundamentals of working with Maya Cloth through a series of examples and walkthrough exercises.
